Unzila Boghani shares her list of 3 Top salons in Karachi:
Salon time is my “me-time” and I am sure it’s the same for the most of us – getting pampered feels good and it also helps us unwind. I am a little picky when it comes to my me-time: I need good services, an indulgent environment and most importantly hygiene. Here’s my list of 3 salons that I visit regularly and would highly recommend:
Mint Beauty Solutions
My absolute FAVOURITE. Whether it’s waxing by Anita or a blow dry by Lubna or Shamyla, everything is spot on. The ambiance is so comfortable. It’s not that big but it’s cosy and clean. Pink and girly, it will somehow remind you of those typical kitty parties. Every time I go for a mani/pedi and I see them open the kit from a sealed plastic pouch, sanitising their hands along with mine, it literally makes my day. Essie is their standard nail color brand.
Apart from that, they use fruit wax as a standard which I feel is a lot better than honey wax (I’ve seen some salons charge extra for it.) They offer Lycon Wax too, which is pricier but removes hair as short as 1mm. A clean disposable sheet is laid on the bed before waxing and their bikini wax follows a strict no double dip policy so basically you’ll see tons of spatulas being disposed off once you get done. They have the CLEANEST bathroom I’ve ever come across. Mint has added an X factor which makes it stand out: cute touches here and there and a commitment to luxury . The staff is cordial and always smiling. A must try for all the hygiene freaks like me.

Recent highlight: they are now offering discount cards. The more points you earn, the more discount you get.

Sephorah Salon
Who wants awesome hairdos, blow dries and nail art? Sephorah has the best nail technicians in the city and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is finicky about nails and hair. It’s a 3 story building in which the basement is for bridal services, first floor is for hair and the upper floor is for nails, waxing and massages. The interior is tastefully done and they offer quality services for both men and women.
I have personally gotten my hair done from there and, Baber is your man for that. Their acrylic nails are also popular. Sephora are comparatively expensive for nails but, as they say, quality never comes cheap 😉

Services: 9/10
Highlight: Sephorah is now offering Essie manicures and pedicures.

Personal Touch by Rozina Lakdawala
This salon is a sure shot for any kind of hair treatment – whether it’s protein, extenso or keratin. I, along with many of my friends, have had a keratin treatment by Rozina and it’s always spot on. The protein treatment along with the massage is just awesome – and so relaxing! Rozina Lakdawala aces in the hair treatment department and is also available for consultations. She will tell you exactly what your hair needs. She does charge an arm and a leg compared to other salons but like I said, it’s fool proof. The salon is mostly a fish market so an appointment prior to going is essential – especially if you want a consultation with Rozina herself.

Other great salons
Hair colour is tricky and everyone has that one girl at some salon or the other. Recently I’ve seen Hina Y, Mona J and H & M Studio trend in this department. Whether it’s highlights, lowlights, one color, ombré, etc – they have some great deals. Take a look at their Facebook pages for more details. My personal favourite is Nadya Hussein Tajammul at Bina Khan. She’s usually out of town and is only available while she’s visiting via appointments.
I have highlighted different services at different salons because I personally go to them depending on what needs to be done. Rarely ever will you find a salon that aces in every department but they do try (again, it’s a personal opinion) and it’s wrong to judge them for that one unsatisfactory experience. These are my favourites and I hope you like them as much as I do.
Editor’s Note: These are Unzila’s personal favourites and not meant to be a comprehensive list of the best salons in town – but we will be reviewing more Top Salons in Karachi in the future including some of my own personal favourites: Saman’s Salon Clifton, Mubashir Khan Salon, Ensemble, Bina Khan, Nadia Hussain, Scheherezade Spa and others – Salima Feerasta
Thanks unzila for your information….
