No matter whether your style is minimalist, elaborate or bohemian, it’s worth investing in kick-ass shoes and bags. While there’s a limit to how many times you can wear even the loveliest outfit, accessories can be pulled out time and again, season after season. Style queen Samira Dada shares the evening bags she’s currently crushing on.
Many women play safe, opting for the same classic pieces, but it’s time to shed that herd mentality. Some fashion faves have become so ubiquitous on the Pakistani social scene that you’ll regret spending so much on them. With so much choice out there, there’s no need to carry the same bags as everyone else. Go for something personalized or take a risk with a seasonal bag. Add a little quirkiness with fun and funky items – you’ll stand out, no matter how basic your outfit.
LV Petit Malle
A little bit too pricey, but I feel this one will stand the test time. I generally don’t feel too bad about spending on classics as you can pull them out again even five years later. While this is a relatively new bag, it has rapidly become iconic. What’s great is that it comes in so many variations, so you generally won’t see people with exactly the same bag.
Personally, I’m bored with the basics. It’s easy to buy standard colours and designs but they have no personality. These embroidered McQueen skull and knuckle box clutches are fabulous statement pieces that can lift the most basic outfit from ‘meh’ to ‘wow’.
Chloe Drew and Inez
Chloe is definitely having a moment and both these bags are oh-so-now. The Drew can be either preppy or ladylike; it’s a day to night bag that is easy to dress up or down. The Inez, meanwhile, is perfect for people who lean to the bohemian. Again this bag comes in many colour-ways and options so you don’t have to run with the crowd.
Gucci Padlock blooms
The Gucci padlock is both affordable and striking. This seasonal blooms printed version is very pretty, and it’s the perfect size to wear in the evening – you can carry it as a clutch but the chain is also beautiful. Guccci has upped their game recently and the funky colours and cool hardware make this a gotta-have-it collection.
Edie Parker’s hand-poured acrylic clutches are attractive and different. I love their structure, the way they look and the fact that they’re so affordable. They break away from the safe zone and offer so many ways you can express yourself – from initials to quirky pictures. I especially love the personalized ones – though the choice of what to write can torture you!
Lulu Guiness Lip Clutch
For me the Charlotte Olympia book clutches and Popcorn clutches are a little too funky. It’s ok for a teenager or twenty-something to go super quirky but not everyone can carry it off. If you want to add something eclectic to your wardrobe, this Lulu Guiness Lip clutch is fun but chic.
If your budget doesn’t stretch to international designers, these elegant metallic clutches by Canary Cove are a great option. Simple yet stylish, they work equally well with Eastern and Western outfits.
