Zara Shahjahan : PFDC Loreal Bridal Fashion Week 2016

Zara Shahjahan showcased her Bridal collection “Mehrunissa” on the final day at PFDC Loreal Fashion Week 2016. Shahjahan celebrated the grandeur of the glamorous begums and maharanis, of the post-colonial era. This collection aimed to take you on a nostalgic journey of the subcontinent.

Mehr-Un-Nisaa, is a woman that has gone through an upheaval via the cultural, political and social disruption in her life. She basks in the glory of her past, and is coming to grips with the realities of her present. The essence of the era is captured through traditional silhouettes, illuminating an old warm charm. A magical blend of royalty and elegance is created through the use of  aqua, gold, ivory, pink and red.  Shahjahan aims to evoke memory lane by harmoniously using delicate fabrics such as organza, tissue,and net, ornamented with intricate motifs and indigenous craftsmanship. Complementing the bridal outfits, the Menswear line comprises of Sherwanis and Waist-coats. The collection took on a minimalistic approach, creating a sophisticated line with pastel hues and intricate  work.
