Chup Kahani by Zahid Mayo
Zahid Mayo lives and works in Lahore. He has studied art from the Naqsh School of Arts, Lahore and The National College of Arts. He works with various mediums. Mayo prioritizes his need for individual growth by having no subjection to established forms of convention. He gets inspiration from exploring the imagery around his surrounding which materializes through both his sketches and camera pictures.
Mayo’s work is a manifestation of simple walks around the society. The paintings in Chup Kahani are embedded with elements from his subconscious and observation, brought on to canvas from varying places in his memory. An amalgamation of different times, spaces and people, these artworks become imaginary assemblies brought to life by his mind, through his diaries of sketches and photographs.

Cartography by Shazia Zuberi
ArtChowk Gallery will be hosting Shazia Zuberi’s exhibition of clay sculptures. Working in clay is one of the most exciting processes which involves experimentation and discovery. With a focus on surface textures, whilst using traditional red clay; as they did millennium ago in Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa civilisations, this series evokes, conceptually, the timeless process of erosion. Shazia Zuberi’s artwork is intentionally smooth and weathered to the touch as it would be when unearthed through an archeological dig.
