Style Notes from Elan’s new silk collection

Bye bye wrists, hello ankles! Elan’s new 2016 silk collection, shot in gorgeous Udaipur by the talented NFK photography, is full of contemporary styling details. We’re drooling over the long, long, wide sleeves that leave only the fingertips visible and the cropped pants. It looks like loose, short shirts aren’t going anywhere soon, the optimum hemline sitting just above the knee, but you can add little touches to stand out from the crowd.

Elan’s 2016 silk collection, the first one they’re ever done, is called the Modern Rajkumari and the prints have that very Elan feel. The collection is unstitched, theoretically giving plenty of scope to style it your own way but of course we’re all checking out Khadijah Shah’s ideas on how to stitch them. She’s thrown in several current trends including wraps, bootleg pants and capris. Placing a strip of organza embroidery near the hem of trousers is very 2016 but we can’t help wishing she’d ditched the peekaboo shoulders – we’re so over them!

The accessories on the other hand are spot on – from that gorgeous gold python Tom Ford to the very chic Gucci Padlock, we’re in handbag heaven!

Elan Silk - Modern Rajkumari

The collection launches on 29th August, online and at leading retailers, and will be priced between Rs11,000 -12,000. They haven’t released pics of all ten designs just yet but we’ll be updating this page as soon as they do. Meanwhile feast your eyes on the collection and put your darzi on standby to stitch yours in time for Eid.
