The Nataak Brigade, IBA’s Dramatics Society, will be staging an adaptation of Swadesh Deepak’s “Court Martial”, a very serious play about caste differences and injustice. Sangeet lovers can also check out T2F’s event, “Song of Splendor”, featuring the renowned Ustad Mehmood Ali Khan.

events in Karachi, theatre, NAPA, theatre in Karachi, plays in Karachi

NAPA Repertory Theatre is staging “Baba Jalinoos” from tomorrow. The play takes place in the home of the wealthy Azam, where Baba Jalinoos—a fraud and an imposter pretending to be a maulvi for whom every form of pleasure is an abomination and a sin —has insinuated himself. After having succeeded magnificently in winning the devotion of the head of the house, Baba Jali is now trying to marry Azam’s daughter while not missing a chance to seduce his wife and scrounge the deed to the property.

Will he be able to fulfil his designs, will his hypocrisy be exposed, will Azam ever be able to see through the fraudulent Baba?

Come and see this hilarious comedy about religious hypocrisy.

Court Martial by IBA Dramatics Society

events in Karachi, theatre, Nataak Brigade, theatre in Karachi, plays in Karachi

Nataak Brigade, IBA’s Dramatics Society is staging Swadesh Deepak’s “Court Martial” in the coming week. Court Martial is the story of recruit Ram Chandr, who is tried for murdering one of his officers and injuring another. When respect is denied to a man, merely because he was borne by ‘low-caste’ parents, the offence cannot simply be termed as a social violence. It assumes larger proportions of crime against humanity and society at large. Yet, by a turn in events, the murderer becomes a winner whereas the victim is seen as guilty. The culprit may receive severe punishment at the hands of the law but, in fact, it is society which is put in the docks.
