Events in Karachi: 19th-25th February 2016

There’s a ton of great events in Karachi to look forward to in the coming week. Port Grand is holding their Grand Turkish Festival over the weekend. The festival will feature performances inspired by Turkish culture, as well as exhibits and a variety of Turkish cuisine. It’s bound to be a nice way have fun with the whole family while enjoying the pleasant weather!

There’s also two promising theatre performances to look forward to in the coming week. Syna Productions is staging Edward Albee’s “The Goat, or Who is Sylvia” at T2F. The play is a bizarre comedy about a man who falls in love with a goat and is a rather entertaining look at the complexities of human relationships. LyProv, Lyceum’s improvisational comedy troupe will also be performing their first public show at T2F. The troupe of young students has been trained and headed by comedian Shehzad Ghias and have shown potential during their smaller shows.

As is usually the case in our bright, happening city, fans of music will be spoilt for choice in the coming week, with three performances to choose from. Undercover is performing at the 3rd All-Star Music Performance this weekend. The band will be joined on stage by a host of musicians such as Natasha Humera Aijaz and Babar Shaikh. It promises to be a night of groovy beats and eclectic sounds!

There’s also a small jamming session at Indus Valley School the same night, featuring Faraz Junejo and Rohail Ahmed. While lesser known, these musicians are no less talented! If you’re in the mood for something more traditional, Sham-e-Kaif is being held at YBQ’s Commune Artist Colony. The night will feature sufi music, performed by Hamza Akram Qawwal.
