There’s going to be some very fun events in Karachi this week, especially for fans of music and comedy! T2F is kicking off their monthly comedy nights ‘Comedy Scene’ this weekend, with a line-up of talented, up and coming comedians. The initiative aims to promote a culture of comedy in Karachi and welcomes amateur performers. It’s bound to be a night of hilarity, so stop by if you’re in the mood to laugh! Indian comedian and satirist Sanjay Rajoura has once again returned to Karachi for a performance. Sanjay is known for his outrageous sense of humour and controversial jokes!

Fans of live music can look forward to great performances, back-to-back. After the success of their performance last weekend, Rushk, featuring Tara Mahmood and Uns Mufti, are going to be performing once again at MAD School. The band’s concert last week was quite a hit and received rave reviews. Cranked Up Karachi is being held the very next day and features an exciting line-up. Sikandar ka Mandar and Alien Panda Jury will be performing alongside newcomers Ashar Kazi & The Mausikars.

If you haven’t gotten a chance to watch Anwar Maqsood’s Siachen yet, the play is returning to the Arts Council for a one-day performance next week. Siachen has received favourable reviews from critics and audiences. All proceeds from the performance will be donated to charity through the Rotary Club of Karachi!

Comedy Scene at T2F

We are aware that there is a dearth of entertainment options in the city. But instead of complaining about it, we, a group of comedians from Karachi, have decided to get our Jibran Nasir on and #fixit!

This weekend marks the launch of our monthly comedy platform where we shall unite at T2F to set up COMEDY SCENE, an opportunity for all aspiring comedians to PERFORM. Yes, perform. Since we want to create a culture for comedy in the city, the platform is open to all for viewing and for taking the stage! The rib-tickling, tummy splitting line-up for the show is:

• Umar Ahmed: An actor, a writer, a singer, a screenwriter and a guitarist are all things he would probably be if he had any talent.

• Nida Syed: Artist, writer, gallery manager and an obsessive cyber stalker. If you are reading this, chances are she’s already stalked you too.

• Muhammad Altamash: A compulsive procrastinator, he has promised to write the rest of this bio later.

• Hassnain Shah: Well known for spending long hours trying to forget rather than learn a new language (Urdu). Hassnain can often be spotted in Saddar happily buying products at Zainab market for three times their original price.

• Fahad Zaki: He learnt English from Sesame Street and still makes people turn heads with his muppet voice.

• Syed Osama: Bio shuru hotay hi khatam, much like his height!

• Kashif Shehzad: He makes Blueprints by profession. For the rest, ask Baban Mian. Baban Mian knows best.

• Faraz Ahmed: Advertiser by day, standup comedian by night, Faraz delivers a unique brand of humour – The Crazy Gentleman.

• Faheem Azam: An actor, a writer, coach, counsellor and a face reader. The potpourri adds fun and humor to his life and according to him, occasionally makes himself a joke.

Siachen (Watch For a Cause)

Rotary club of Karachi South is doing a fundraiser to sustain their passionate involvement in helping to eradicate illiteracy among women and children in the impoverished areas of Karachi and parts of Sind .

The dynamic duo of Anwar Maqsood and Dawar Mehmood is back with their sixth co-production, “Siachen”.

The T20 championship has started and tension between the two countries has come down and there is also a high chance that the two countries might become friends. It’s Eid Ul Adha and the Pakistani camp is waiting for its “Bakra”. Meanwhile both the camps are shouting at each other as the Pakistan India finale takes twists and turns. ‘Siachen’ depicts a much lighter side of the Pak Fauj than we are witnessing nowadays in the media and also in mostly all movies.

Siachen is Pakistan’s first 3D play with special effects. The cast spent two weeks in the actual war zone 16,000 feet above sea level, with real life interactions with the soldiers and underwent specialised PMA training for 4 months.

The highest battlefield on earth, Siachen is an experience rather than a performance…….a journey of a lifetime.

Tickets available at Agha’s Supermarket.

Tickets: Rs. 1500/-

Where: Arts Council of Pakistan, M.R Kiyani Road

When: 3rd February

Timing: 8:00 p.m.
