Kaun Sunta Hai at Jinnah College

Kaun Sunta Hai, Hamza Bangash, Theatre in Karachi, Events in Karachi

Taskeen is a mental health and emotional well being awareness initiative developed by the Pakistan Association for Mental Health in collaboration with CareForHealth and Humanity Initiative. The organisation has put together a play to introduce the issues that it works on.

Mental illness is a common, yet ill understood phenomenon. In this play we witness a young boy undergoing the profound experience of mental illness. Gulzaar journeys from a state of being overwhelmed and oblivious to hopefulness and empowerment, serving as an example for countless others. This snapshot into his life exposes us to the nuances of mental health professionals and the far reaching consequences of their sometimes distinct approaches. Family members also have their unique roles to play, their characters shedding light on the misconceptions surrounding mental illness and the resulting stigma and suffering caused by it. The audience will feel a range of emotions as they step into the shoes of the various players in this turbulent yet commonplace trial.

Written and directed by Hamza Bangash.
Concept by Ramis Akhtar.
Starring Asiya Alam, Hadi Bin Arshad and Hammad Siddiq.

Entry is free but only on reservation. Registration closes on 9th October.
