Events in Karachi: 26th February-3rd March 2016

It’s a very happening week, with a fun line-up of events in Karachi. A lot of charity-based events happening this week, giving you the chance to have a good time while supporting some great causes. The Special Children’s Educational Institute is holding their annual spring festival. The festival aims to raise money for remedial facilities for underprivileged children with special needs. Lots of great brands are participating and there will be a plethora of fun activities for the littles ones as well!

If you’re a fan of live music, there are also several charity-driven concerts happening in the coming week. CareForHealth have organised a live performance by Zoe Viccaji and Sara Haider. If you’re in the mood for something more traditional, Karwan-e-Hayat has also organised a concert of the classical singer Faheem Mazhar. Both charities are involved in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients with mental illnesses and have also been involved in raising much needed awareness regarding the issue.

As part of their social responsibility initiative, GroupM has also organised a qawali night, featuring none other than the legendary Amjad Sabri. All proceeds from the event will go to the Move Foundation, an international organisation that is working in Pakistan to alleviate the poverty stricken conditions of Nusrat Bhutto Colony. If you prefer groovy, poppy tunes to traditional ones, Salt Arts is having a concert at Alliance Française, featuring their in-house lineup with D.J Herby Werby. With so many concerts to choose from, music lovers need not worry about having to face boredom in the coming week!

If you’re in the mood for some live comedy, the Pak Improv Community will be holding their first Improv Jam at Thotspot this weekend. The performance will feature Ali Gul Pir, performing improvisational comedy after an extended hiatus. New comers and crowd favourites Faiza Saleem and Hassaan Bin Shaheen will also be performing and hilarity is bound to ensue!

Pak Improv Community presents the first “Improv Jam” – a fortnightly performance to celebrate improv in Pakistan.

The event is produced and curated by Faiza Saleem and Faris Khalid.

Each show will feature Karachi’s finest improvisers (okay, that might be a bit of an exaggeration) who will come together like never before! The audience will not only give suggestions for the scenes but also handpick the players for each game. Want to know more? Come and find out.
