Events in Karachi: 8th-14th April 2016

Improvisational comedy seems to be the in thing these days, with three improv comedy events in Karachi to look forward to!  Improv Jam is back at Thotspot with their fortnightly performance, featuring an all new troupe of performers! The Improv Jam strives to bring together a fresh group of comedians for each performance, which keeps their shows interesting and fun.

Comedy Scene will also be performing the very same day at DotZero. Their previous performances have received good reviews and the troupe has emerged quite successfully to the forefront of Karachi’s comedy circuit. The Platoon will be performing at T2F in the coming week, as a show of support and love for Sabeen Mehmud’s legacy. All proceeds will be going towards the Creative Karachi Festival, Sabeen’s brainchild and initiative.

If you’re in the mood for some traditional sufi dance and music, Samaa-e-Sufi is being held at the National Sailing Centre. The evening will feature a performance by the legendary dancer Sheema Kermani and music by Hamza Akram. If you’re a fan of French cinema, the Alliance Français Ciné Club is back with another series of films. For the next few weeks, they will be screening cinematic biographies of renowned female artists. This week, they will be screening Berthe Morisot by Caroline Champetier, which is about the life and challenges of the Impressionist painter Berthe Morisot.
