Who do you call when you want to let your hair down?

It’s been years since I let my hair down !

Ultimate desi food joint:

Zenose Melody, near Melody cinema. It’s not part of food street, but it is one of oldest Isloo institutions. They have the best Karahi in town.

Favourite restaurant:

I’m a real desi at heart and am not a fan of those café’s where the pseudo crowd goes to see and be seen. My favourite is Kabul Afghan Tikka in Jinnah Super Market. It has fabulous authentic food: really yummy tikkas, proper Afghani roti and fantastic pullao!

Go-to salon/spa:

Tariq Amin’s at Beverly Center, of course!

Favourite shops:

One place I couldn’t do without is Illusion, which is where I get all my DVDs and Blu-Ray discs. I’m quite old school and have amassed quite a movie collection; no streaming or Netflix for me. I enjoy going to the movies but love my TV series too, and Illusion is my go-to because they only sell authentic Blu-Ray. I always wait for the full series of a show and then binge watch, as I have no patience.

Best dessert in town: Shahida’s Peach Pavlova. OMG!

Which building do you wish had more character?

The Parliament building

Parliament House needs more character

Best memory:

Diya, my daughter, who was born here in Islamabad.

Hidden gem:

Pakistan Handicrafts. They have the most amazing handloom fabric like Khaddar and many variants of cotton. I wear a lot of shalwar kameez and this is one place I head to season after season. They stock a fabulous selection of quality natural fabrics.

Essential luxury:

Pedicures and Gucci chappals.

Best piece of advice you’ve ever been given:

Give more advice than you take.
