The House of Wardha Saleem launches a new label “JHIRKI” – an initiative to revive the antiquated crafts and techniques of the sub-continent with special focus on hand-wood block printing. The skilled craftsman uses hand carved wooden blocks, to trace the background or outline, then employs filler blocks for geometric and floral motifs.
The Spring- Summer 2019 capsule promotes the art of bespoke hand block and screen prints on pure silks, organza and chiffons with heritage embroideries and multiple age old techniques on modern silhouettes with colour palettes ranging from ivory and gold to contrasting hot pinks, bright yellows and electric blues, to create the ultimate taste of fusion in Wardha Saleem’s own signature style.
