Lace, sheer fabrics and net have been in fashion for a while now but the trend is really about to take off with the fabrics hitting markets in bulk.

There are some gorgeous materials out there – ranging from crochet laces to net laces and faux Chantilly lace.

Crochet Lace for trousers

You may want to fully line an open weave like this

Crochet lace trousers have become quite the vogue and there are lots of options in the market. If you choose an open weave you should line the whole trouser but for laces that have fewer open spaces you can get away with lining the top half, provided you wear them with a kurta rather than a western top.

Floral net lace

Lace isn’t just for trousers but don’t make your entire kurta from lace. Inject a modern vibe with contrasting fabrics – use lace for a jacket or for the back of an outfit. Mix lace with chiffon, organza or natural cotton for a contemporary feel.

With most of these fabrics being sold at around Rs600 a yard, you can afford to experiment. And remember, don’t be afraid to bargain – I’m really bad at haggling but I’m sure some of you can get even better prices!
