Spring is in the air and it’s time to give your wardrobe a new season update. This weekend, one of our favourite brands, Blocked Textiles, is having their Spring exhibition. Blocked by Afsheen Numair is a Karachi favourite for its cool, relaxed vibe and its flattering silhouettes.

The brand gives traditional craft techniques a modern twist with limited collections of hand-crafted kurtas and unstitched material. Championing and updating traditional crafts has become a cause celebre with brands like Nida Azwer, Misha Lakhani and Elan working with blockprint, sheesha and turki work. Afsheen began giving a contemporary spin to traditional craft many years ago with her quirky blocks, rilli and creative colour combinations.

The new collection features pretty corals and blues, summery yellow and fresh candy stripes. New blocks include giraffes, tulips, architecture and cranes. The collection includes some with a touch of blingy gold blockprint for formal occasions while the majority of kurtas are perfect for daywear and a welcome change from identikit lawn prints.

The exhibition is also a great opportunity to pick up blockprint dupattas and shalwars and unstitched suits that your tailor can make up for you throughout the summer.

The exhibition is on Saturday 9th February at 184, St 20, Kh e Roomi, Phase 8, DHA, Karachi. Doors open at 7 am and they restock at 11 am and only women are allowed. The exhibition is very popular but its worth going to pick up something unique that not many other people will have.
