Saira Rizwan’s bridal couture collection, “Aaina” revolves around the concept of reflection and self-love. “Being a woman in our society and the upbringing that it entails means constantly doubting yourself and putting the love for others over and above the love for our own selves. In times like these, it is essential that a woman reflects on her abilities and capabilities and finds herself to be beautiful and valuable enough to keep her going through the storms without falling apart.”
The collection featured intricate and detailed sheesha (mirror) and gotta work with techniques of chevron and linear designs. Following a royal colour palette with hues of dominant reds, golds, silvers amalgamated with pastels here are there – the colour transformations depict this journey of the self. The silhouettes for the collection included contemporary, modern cuts in elegant floor length gowns, paired with delicate traditional work to display a fusion of two eras that resonates with the theme of self-reflection and love.
