Whatever you are up to this Sunday (9th Feb), make some time to head to Mohatta Palace for Fashion Supports Conservation. This is a once-in-blue-moon opportunity to grab some fabulous designer goodies at insanely reduced prices.

The country’s best designers have come together to support the cause of conservation. The list of participating designers is huge – in total 174 designers have donated outfits. High-end Labels like Sana Safinaz, Elan, Sania Maskatiya and Mehreen Menahel have all contributed.

Expect to find outfits by everyone from Muse and Delphi to Nadia Ellahi and Shamsha Hashwani. For the most part designers have been very big-hearted. A few may have sent leftover bits and pieces but most have donated recognizable outfits from their recent collections. The stock includes everything from cottons to pret, luxury pret and formals. There is even some wedding-wear.

Beyond clothing, expect to find makeup, accessories, home décor items, furniture, paintings and even fine jewellery. There will also food, especially cakes by some of Karachi’s best bakeries and home bakers. Lals will also be running a cafe, including their famous gelato and waffle cones.

Event organisers Shehrbano Taseer and Rema have run similar shows twice before in Lahore, to raise funds for flood relief. They thanked everyone who’s donated saying,
“We’re overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity and so grateful that so many of Pakistan’s top designers have contributed. We’ve received some truly fabulous pieces. Some like T-shirt swag have produced pieces specifically for the event.”

Some lucky customers are going to get their hands on some real bargains. A sneak peek at the stock shows there is something to suit all budgets and plenty of choice. A photo booth with quirky Sindh festival props and backdrops will add to fun. All funds raised will go to a special fund aimed at conserving Sindh’s heritage sites.
