This week in pictures: Karachi 16th – 22nd April

This week in Karachi started with a major dose of celeb spotting across the Arabian Sea in Dubai at the ARY Film Awards 2016. From Ahmed Ali as “Anjell” to Mehwish Hayat in a gorgeous Shehla Chatoor dress, we were riveted. Other highlights of the week included an impressive shoppable fashion show by Daraz, style spotting at parties, GTs and qawalis, the launch of this year’s Pond’s Miracle Journey and a BTS video from Pepe Jeans that made a lot of people hot under the collar. 1.The ARY Film Awards featured pretty much anyone who’s anyone from the Pakistani film industry. Channel loyalties meant that they didn’t include HUM TVs Bin Roye but they gave star Mahira Khan another random award while they gave Fawad Khan a nod with an International Icon award. ARY’s JPNA got the bulk of the awards but at least the crictically acclaimed Manto picked up best actor and actress. Mehwish Hayat sparkled in Shehla Chatoor while Ayesha Omar’s Shehla ensemble was less successful.

Still at the ARY Film Awards, Ahmed ALi Butt had us in stitches with his antics – this skit as Taher Shah’s “Anjell” was hilarious. We caught Maheen Khan and crew chilling later at Beirut restaurant.

2. Pond’s launched this year’s Miracle Journey with a host of new mentors including Sana Hashwani and Safinaz Muneer

 

3.  Hafsah Shayan was one of our most popular style picks this week, in a gorgeous Umaima Mustafa Kaftan.

 

 

4. And we’re totally style crushing on Anusha Bawany – check out these two very different looks at Daraz Fashion Week and the Tabassum Mughal lawn launch.

 

5.  Fashionistas Shazah Ayub, Samira Dad and Samiya Ansari played dress up in Shehla Chatoor lawn – which launches on 25th April.

7. Hamna Zubair, editor of Dawn’s online  Images and journalist Maliha Rehman at Daraz Fashion Week.

9. Sikander Rizvi and Ayesha Omer caused a minor furore with a BTS video from their #GetItOn campaign for Pepe Jeans. Some complained that they were copying an Indian campaign with Alia Bhatt but more found it a little too overt for local tastes.

 

10. And we still photograph our food – who could help it with coffee art this cute? The new Cheesy Bites pizza from Pizza Hit was also a major hit on our Insta this week – pizza party anyone?
