What to wear this Spring in Pakistan

Spring 2016 Trends in Pakistan

Spring is in the air and it’s time to refresh that wardrobe. Keep up with the fashion crew this March with these 5 top trends.

The Dhoti Shalwar

Dhoti shalwars were all over the runway at the end of last year and they’re one of this season’s hottest pieces – top fashion labels just can’t keep them on the shelves. Spotted on the uber fashionable at various events, they are available at Misha Lakhani, Nida Azwer, Mehreen Menahel and Shamsha Hashwani.

Pair with boxy short shirts or a cinched waist, flats or heels – there are so many ways to style this hero piece. Click here for our piece on where to buy them.

White Tops and Blue Jeans

This classic combo never goes out of style but it’s the perfect springtime look. Relaxed and stylish, it was a major trend among models and style mavens at the recent Kerastase St Valentine brunch.

Come summer it will be too hot to wear jeans but until then, nothing beats crisp white with blue denim.

Khussas

Khussas are definitely having a fashion moment, rocking with both eastern and western wear. From Fashion-forward indie labels like Soma and Chapter 13 to the khussay-wallah in your neighbourhood bazaar, there are loads of places to pick up cute khussas. Make a statement with Soma’s spider and web khussas or with truck art khussas available in most bazaars. Alternatively, keep it simple with a plain leather pair that go with just about everything.

Digital kurtas

The annual lawn madness has begun but pret printed kurtas are so much cooler. Too many of the brands jumping on the pret bandwagon are going for identikit print on print looks but there are some beauties that will take you right through to summer. Threads and Motifs, Sapphire and Ideas Pret are my current go-tos for affordable, chic kurtas that are easy to style up or down.

The Organza Wrap

Capes are definitely so last season – the organza wrap is the coolest fusion piece in town. Made popular by Sana Safinaz and Sania Maskatiya, these sheer jackets are now popping up in a range of cuts and colours, and even with embroidery. Just remember, organza wraps are about texture and volume – when it comes to embellishment, less is more.
