Horticultural Therapy Workshop
Humans and plants have been in close association for ages. Horticultural Therapy refers to the culture of plants, while therapy refers to a way to cure someone. Hence, Horticultural Therapy may be described as the engagement of a person in gardening and plant based activities, facilitated by an expert, to achieve specific therapeutic goals.
So, how exactly can Horticultural Therapy benefit you? Studies have shown that Horticultural Therapy has extensive benefits for both, physical as well as psychological health. It can help control anxiety and panic attacks and it has shown significant reduction in stress levels among those who are engaged in horticulture.
Horticultural Therapy increases the level of EQ (Emotional Intelligence) and as a result, the participants of the activity deal with others in an empathetic way and it results in improved relationships in personal, social, and professional areas.
In this workshop, participants will be guided as to how they can improve their lives, attain success and happiness and reduce their stress by participating in Horticultural activities in multiple ways.
They will also be provided guidance as to how they can continue the practice on their part independently. The necessary know-how will also be shared about the gardening methods and techniques.

Alishba’s Digital Art Studio Launch
On 11 October, the International Day of the Girl, we are pleased to invite you to the launch of Alliance française de Karachi‘s beloved French student and accomplished artist Syeda Alishba Amin-ud-Din‘s digital art studio.
Alishba Amin-ud-Din is an artist and a painter focusing mostly on abstract expressionism. Alishba, who has Down syndrome, is very active: she is an engaged student, loves learning French, and enjoys yoga, baking, music, travelling, and reading.
Her first solo art exhibition was held in March 2018 at the Alliance Française de Karachi art gallery. Later that year, The Feminist Library in London exhibited her art work. In January 2019, Alishba was invited to attend the Artrooms Fair in London as a guest artist. She also exhibited her work in London’s Zari Gallery in a solo exhibition that ran for two weeks in May 2019 and was subsequently invited to the British Parliament by Britain’s Shadow Justice Minister, Barrister Imran Hussain.
As an international visual artist with unique abilities, Alishba’s art raises awareness about social issues, particularly highlighting the challenges of girls with disabilities and about environmental challenges.
On this special occasion of the International Day of the Girl, Alishba aims to set an example for other girls to become economically independent, reach their full potential, and go beyond societal limitations.
