Sunday Matinée – The Kick, Short Films:Darling & Agency

Der Kick (The Kick) Directed by Andres Veiel, colour, 82 min., 2006

On the night of 13 July 2000 brothers Marco and Marcel Schönfeld, together with their friend Sebastian Fink, violently attacked and killed 16-year-old Marinus Schöberl. Documentary maker Andres Veiel carried out extensive research for the play he wrote about the case which took place in Uckermark, a district of Berlin. The film is based on and takes its name from the play.

We will screen 2 short films, Darling by Saim Sadiq & Agency by Omer Rahim.

Darling by Saim Sadiq
Pakistani filmmaker Saim Sadiq’s short film Darling won big at the 76th Venice International Film Festival.
The masterpiece, which had its world premiere at the festival, has bagged the Orizzonti Award for Best Short Film.

It revolves around a young boy named Shani and a trans girl Alina, played by a young trans woman from Lahore—Alina Khan. It features upcoming actress Mehar Bano, Abdullah Malik, and Nadia Afgan as well.

Agency – a film by Omar Rahim

Omar Rahim isn’t a name new to literary circles in Pakistan. Known primarily as an actor and choreographer, Omar has now stepped into the multi-faceted role of writer, director and producer of his first short film, Agency. The film, which revolves around a gay couple looking for a surrogate, reflects on the evolving family dynamic of South Asian contemporary couples, which no longer fall within the conventional bracket.

Agency premiered in Mumbai at the Kashish Film Festival, earlier this year, and will hit the festival circuit in Chicago and Washington DC.

And and watch these amazing films this Sunday with us!

Horticultural Therapy Workshop

Humans and plants have been in close association for ages. Horticultural Therapy refers to the culture of plants, while therapy refers to a way to cure someone. Hence, Horticultural Therapy may be described as the engagement of a person in gardening and plant based activities, facilitated by an expert, to achieve specific therapeutic goals.

So, how exactly can Horticultural Therapy benefit you? Studies have shown that Horticultural Therapy has extensive benefits for both, physical as well as psychological health. It can help control anxiety and panic attacks and it has shown significant reduction in stress levels among those who are engaged in horticulture.

Horticultural Therapy increases the level of EQ (Emotional Intelligence) and as a result, the participants of the activity deal with others in an empathetic way and it results in improved relationships in personal, social, and professional areas.

In this workshop, participants will be guided as to how they can improve their lives, attain success and happiness and reduce their stress by participating in Horticultural activities in multiple ways.

Khumariyaan 3.0: Live in Concert

Back by popular demand to perform live at T2F, join us for a live concert featuring Khumariyaan!

Art for religious fundamentalism is, like water for fire, mere existence, is a form of resistance.

Khumariyaan was born in the age of Talibanisation, sectarian violence, military operations and neo-imperialist expansions, in the region which is a gateway to Central Asia, in the city of Peshawar. A band of musicians whose tunes are based on their native music, with nuances of other native sounds of the world, Khumariyaan’s focus is to elevate music to the medium of peace. Musically, Khumariyaan are also trying to break the tradition of South Asian vocal based musical culture, thus are primarily an instrumental band with little fragments of vocals to complement the overall harmony of their music.
