Hundreds of thousands of students have taken to the streets in India to protest the controversial ‘Citizenship Amendment Act’ recently passed by the Modi government. Just a month ago in Pakistan several thousand students took part in the massive Student Solidarity March held across the country. Interestingly the student protestors of both countries chanted verses of Faiz Ahmad Faiz and Habib Jalib, carried red flags and also gave space for minority groups within their ranks.

Join us for a screening of short film “Ushhaq ke Qafley” about the history of the democratic student movement in Pakistan, followed by a discussion on the present student movements of both Pakistan and India.
