What’s On in Karachi 22nd March – 28th March 2019

In store this week are three exhibitions. Summer is in full swing so be sure to stop by Urooj Fahd’s Studio to grab trendy cotton  pret. Anum A Raheem is showcasing unique chickenkari along with the CLASP Kids’ Collection. NAPA’s International Performing Arts Festival is drawing to a close with only two plays lined up – Dostana: Mime & Clown would be a treat for the kids. Experience the art of French performance by watching the play at Alliance Francais de Karachi (again very kid friendly). A great way to reminisce childhood memories is by watching The Lion King. This week is really one for the kids with all the Basant Carnivals going on. Walk for a cause is a great way to digest the Pakistan Day overeating and will help towards a thalassaemia free Pakistan. For avid book readers, there’s a book club over at the PACC that you can join and for the music enthusiasts, T2F is putting together their Jambro session for you.

The Outsiders – Launch and Music

“Outsiders” is a response to “Geniale Dilletanten,” a traveling exhibition by the Goethe-Institut co-curated by Mathilde Weh and Leonhard Emmerling that documents German subculture of the 1980s. Karachi based curator Amin Gulgee together with Zarmeene Shah and Zeerak Ahmed decided not to narrow in on a single decade but rather to look at Pakistan from the 1970s to the present day in an attempt to identify what might be considered sub/counter culture here in an attempt to instigate a dialogue about this challenging subject.

We are launching an exciting publication (for free on first come first served basis) with essays by the curators and full coverage of the exhibition.

Join us all for a relaxing afternoon with chilled drinks and music by Tollcrane and Asfandyar.
