What’s On in Karachi 27th February to 4th March

Setting out to redefine Eastern Wear, Nimra Mehreen exhibits her long-awaited Crystal Collection 2020. Urooj Fahad is also exhibiting two of her collections this weekend: Cruise and Khayal. PACC has taken an initiative by arranging a small exhibition promoting apparel by female entrepreneurs and introduce their capacities in business fields. Fuckup Nights is a global movement and event series that shares stories of professional failure. Each month, in events across the globe, three to four people to get up in front of a room full of strangers to share their own professional fuckup – this month, it’s Karachi’s turn – join them at Alliance Francaise de Karachi. The 4th Sindh Literature Festival celebrates the power of words, culture, music and the teachings of peace and tolerance. It aims to provide a venue for established and emerging writers to meet with their readers and to engage new fans. All this and more – it’s an intellectual week ahead.

Fuckup Nights Karachi vol.II

Fuckup Nights is a global movement and event series that shares stories of professional failure. Each month, in events across the globe, we get three to four people to get up in front of a room full of strangers to share their own professional fuckup. Film Screening: ABU – A film by Arshad Khan

Join us at T2F for the film screening of ‘ABU – a feature documentary’ by Arshadfilms on Sunday, 1st March 2020 at 5pm.

ABU is a journey to the centre of a fragmented family while they grapple with religion, sexuality, colonialism and migration. Through a tapestry of narratives composed of family footage, observation and classic Bollywood films, gay-identifying Pakistani-Muslim filmmaker Arshad Khan takes viewers through the tense relationships between family and fate, conservatism and liberalism and modernity and familiarity.

Ustad Shahbaz Hussain is not just the UK’s leading tabla master, but globally recognized as an authority on the Delhi and Panjab Gharana (musical dynasties). Since the age of 5 and via an exceptional crop of Ustad’s (musical masters) he has become one of the leading table virtuoso’s of his generation.

Shahbaz Hussain performs all over the world and is much sought after for his accompaniment skills by many of the great master musicians of India & Pakistan – including Ustad Salamat Ali Khan, Ustad Shahid Parvez, Ustad Rais Khan, Ustad Fateh Ali Khan, Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia and ghazal legend Ghulam Ali to name but a few.

Shahbaz Hussain will be on stage with what we at QalandarArts think is London’s best kept secret; Zayn Mohammed. An incredible multi instrumentalist , composer and guitarist who really knows no musical boundaries demonstrated by his skills across the flamenco/acoustic guitar, electric guitar, sarod, oud, rebab and ney. (A small montage of Shahbaz and Zayn) . Born in London he was playing flamenco by the age of 3. By the age of 9 he was performing flamenco nationally. Age 12 he appeared on live television playing the music of Joe Satriani and Steve Vai.
