Creative Karachi Festival 2019

The Creative Karachi Festival is Karachi’s famous two-day festival of interdisciplinary arts and creativity, transformed into a weekend ‘mela’, held in the generous grounds of the Alliance Française. The CKF was initiated by our passionate founder Sabeen Mahmud who famously dubbed the festival as a ‘non-stop party in the park!’.

After CKF 2014 and 2016, T2F is now ready to launch the 3rd CKF to take forward our vision of enacting positive transformative change through art, creativity and dialogue. The two day festival promises to transform our tiny corner of the megalopolis of Karachi into a buzzing wonderland of music, art, food, creativity and fun through an exceptional line-up of visual artists, contemporary and traditional craftsmen, performers, writers, poets, dancers, film and documentary makers, qavvaals and musicians, comedians and storytellers and a unique outdoor eating experience with communal tables, food demos, and tastings!

Join us, and bring all your friends, in celebrating culture and life; and strengthening our collective vision of a creatively conscious city and an inclusive, sustainable and prosperous society.

Terminal 404 – An Audio-Visual Show By KCR

Terminal 404 is a place of post-apocalyptic ponder. Our screens stare at us but we are nowhere to be found. Insatiable desires have consumed the city and it has turned against us. Our music too was smothered but still speaks in soliloquy. Ambient soundscapes, noisy relief, layered grooves, geometric visions, fractal displays.

KCR brings Lahore based visual artist Rahema Zaheer Alam as co-curator, with 7 artists from Karachi for a collaborative audio-visual show that explores urban decay and disintegration.

Abi Tariq opens the show by asking “Whose Utopia?”. He weaves in and out of this question by creating emotional sound spaces through voice and spoken word overlaid with ambient sounds and noise.

Alien Panda Jury plays a live set that builds on segments from his album Enneagram, an exploration of the human psyche through layered, textured sounds, vocals, and eclectic samples. Salik Abbasi and Rahema collaborate on visuals to give form to this inner journey and narrate the malleable moods of mind.

Tollcrane and TMPST ditch the software for an analogue duo performance that “runs the gamut of sound from drones and ambient to house-y dance music and abrasive techno”. Rahema’s visual set investigates the beauty and disintegration of Karachi. Rahema pairs up with Omer Bashir and Amar Ayaz from PakaStudios and juxtaposes their footage of the city with her immersive graphics to visualize urban decay.
