Reimagining Justice: Legal Empowerment in Sindh

Join us on Friday, 8th November at 6:00pm at the Faraar Gallery, T2F for the event “Reimagining Justice: Legal Empowerment in Sindh.” This show will feature our work on legal empowerment through four short video documentaries, followed by panel discussions on each documentary.

The event will kick off with a discussion that people would otherwise normally not have access to; stories from within prison facilities and to perhaps engage in discussions to dispel certain myths associated with impoverished and incarcerated populations. The event will also assist us in increasing our visibility and strengthening alliances and associations with citizens and the community at large.

About LAO & LAS:
The Committee for the Welfare of Prisoners-Legal Aid Office was formed in 2004, and is a public-private partnership which is funded by the Government of Sindh and managed by Justice Nasir Aslam Zahid, former Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, and former Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court. CWP-LAO’s mandate is to provide legal aid and assistance to prisoners in 25 of the prisons in Sindh, and to administer legal empowerment and rehabilitation programs, as well. CWP-LAO’s sister organization, the Legal Aid Society (LAS), is a not-for-profit organization that also works exclusively with marginalized and vulnerable populations across the province.

Unveiling the Void

‘Every object possesses its own magnificence, no greater or lesser than that of any other object.’
– Jean Genet

Join us on Wednesday, November 13 for ‘Unveiling the Void’ two persons art exhibition by Yasser Vayani & Ana Ali Kazmi at Faraar Gallery, T2F.

Yasser Vayani is a graduate of Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture from the department of Fine Arts. His practice talks about the materials that surround us everyday and questioning the idea of art and artist research. His practice focuses on ideas of conceptual methodologies and ready made practices.

Ana Ali Kazmi was born in Karachi, Pakistan in 1994. She developed an interest in arts and a passion for painting and sketching at a very young age. Throughout her life, Ana has taken a keen interest in representing the world through the expression of drawings and paintings. She feels that paintings can serve as a symbolic representation of how people view life. After pursuing her degree, Ana has continued to create drawings that represent Pakistan’s local culture with a focus on spaces and objects.

Opening Reception: Wednesday, 13th November 2019

Timings: 5pm – 8pm

Location: Faraar Gallery, T2F

Exhibition remains open until Wednesday, 29th November 2019 between 12noon to 10 pm everyday.
