In support of Karachi Biennale 2017 (KB17), we are happy to announce that Pakistan Calling Film Festival will be screening a small selection of films from its 2016 festival. The selection of films is based on the KB17 theme “WITNESS”. In Pakistan film has been associated with entertainment but critical reflection shows that within this genre many actors and directors have pushed the boundaries to embed important social, historical and political messages. The documentary often introduced subversive themes to convey the truth of the times. Film has played an active role as a witness in Pakistan’s social and cultural history.
