Whats on this week in Karachi: Events and Exhibitions 1st – 8th of November 2017

As soon as November hits K-town, social commitments suddenly start to clutter up your calendar. This is the perfect time to be checking out the weekend exhibition hit list, which includes designers Yasmin Zaman, RemaSheherbano and Faiza Rehman. Topstone will also be holding their store launch this Sunday, bringing to the market a wonderful selection of furniture made of inlaid marble. Apart from retail therapy get yourself ready for some evening entertainment,  Salt Arts will be hosting its Salt Soiree with a delicious dinner buffet,  MUSHK a theatre production starring Nimra Bucha and Sania Saeed will be playing at PACC, as well as several events happening across the city as a part of the Karachi Biennale 2017. For the younger crowd especially amateur musicians and actors there are some fun events happening this weekend,  starting off with the Dance Mandala with Alizeh Valjee, the Acting Wheel at The Grid,  and the regular First Fridays at T2F.

Pakistan Calling Film Festival : Film As Witness

In support of Karachi Biennale 2017 (KB17), we are happy to announce that Pakistan Calling Film Festival will be screening a small selection of films from its 2016 festival. The selection of films is based on the KB17 theme “WITNESS”. In Pakistan film has been associated with entertainment but critical reflection shows that within this genre many actors and directors have pushed the boundaries to embed important social, historical and political messages. The documentary often introduced subversive themes to convey the truth of the times. Film has played an active role as a witness in Pakistan’s social and cultural history.

Acting Wheel at The Grid!

Originally envisioned by Khurram Suleman, Nausheen Ishtiaq and Qutubuddin Mulla back in 2011 at T2F, The Acting Wheel gave a platform to people from all walks of life to try their hand at theatre and improv. Now, it is back once again, this time focusing on improvised comedy hosted by LOLWaalay and friends.

The event is open to all who enjoy doing improv or would like to try their hand at it. It will be a whole lot of laughter and clean fun, so make sure you wear comfortable clothes and bring your sense of humour.Just to be clear, this is not a show or performance.

Dance Mandala with Alizeh Valjee

Dance Mandala is a method of moving meditation that encourages authentic self-expression, cultivating bliss, and stillness. Through free-form movement, music, and gentle guided instruction, the participants are exposed to motion to confront the rigidity and tension of their own bodies.

First Fridays at T2F

Join us at T2F on the first Friday of November 2017 for an open mic session featuring emerging talent.T2F’s First Fridays Open Mic is a platform for musicians, poets, and comedians to perform, improvise and experiment in an informal setting.
