Whats on this week in Karachi : Events and Exhibitions April 27th – May 3rd 2017

This weekend marks the first of the Ramzan and Eid exhibitions. Hot off the ramp, two  design houses, Momina Teli from Karachi and the duo Saira Shakira from Lahore, will be exhibiting their collections at Ensemble. Don’t miss out on these exhibitions as not only are these designers extremely talented but their clothes are very exclusive. For your summer time soirees, Fazia Rehman will be hosting a Ramadan Trunk Show, which promises a great range lawn, chikan, cotton net, organza and silk lawn. Beat the heat with some great musical  events on this weekend, enjoy a Qawwali by the Sabri Brothers, some live Chitrali music by Irfan & Moaaz , or a laissez faire jam session at the British Council Library.  The Khawaatoons will also be performing a much waited ‘lovers point’ where they promise to explore the funny side of love, and all types of love.  For Bird Lovers, the Aviculture foundation in Pakistan will be hosting an event at the National Museum of Pakistan and for kids there will be an interactive storytelling session at Liberty books.

Summer Ramadan Trunk Show 2017

CareForHealth Presents Sabri Brothers: Qawwali for a Cause

 CareForHealth will be hosting a  fundraising event in collaboration with Orangehead Productions. The programme will begin with an opening act of unplugged performance by Mooroo followed by mystical Sufi music with Sabri Brothers.

Swing Time – Jam Session at the Karachi Library

Bring your instruments, your voices and your rhythm and groove to the Karachi library this Saturday. In the spirit of the evening, musicians and music-lovers from all over Karachi bring their instruments and improvise in the library’s multiple spaces, exploring its full possibilities. This is an opportunity to interact with each other and the audience in a freewheeling environment, where new impromptu musical conversations may emerge and flourish.

All library members and their friends are invited to bring along an instrument to join in.This event is suitable for children 5 and above. All children must be accompanied by their parents or adult guardians.

Irfan & Moaaz: Live in Concert

Join in an evening of regional, folk and mainstream fusion. Take away the heavy guitar riffs and what one is left with is the pure vernacular sound of the stunning Chitrali mountains and the collective soul of its dwellers!

Irfan Ali Taj and Moaaz Afridi’s sound is best described as multi-folkloral urban experimental music. It is determined by an intermingling of tradition and modern approaches, in an effort to bring Chitrali music to the fore. Their work includes a collaboaration with Zoe Viccaji, Ashiqi Angar (2016), and the recent singles, Ishq Darya (2017) and Dunya Ju Basu (2017).

Budgerigars, Canaries Exhibition and Conference
