This weekend is bursting with events in Karachi. Friday night kicks off with a tough choice between the Open Mic Session at T2F, A stand-up comedy show by Syed Osama Sami, and some great entertainment at the Karachi Dance Festival. The Dance festival will be on the whole weekend, and is definitely an exciting prospect as it is a first-of-its kind, bringing together talented artists, performers and dancers. In the mood for dancing yourself, then take part in the Dance Mandala by Alizeh Valjee where she introduces a method of moving meditation that encourages authentic self-expression and cultivating bliss. There will be two theatre performances on this week an urdu play at Napa ‘Latri Jo Lafro’ and ‘Investigation Cell ‘ a Play by Kulsoom Aftab at T2F.

Karachi Dance Festival 2017
The World Dance Day is celebrated around the world with vigor and enthusiasm. Arts Council is taking a step ahead by putting up Karachi’s 1st Dance Festival for the people of our city to make them aware about World Dance Day and giving them a chance to be a part of the celebrations. The festival will see a number of artists, dancers and performers entertain the audience and public by putting their dancing skills on display. The festival is also planned to provide a platform to all the dancers and youth of the city who aggressively participate in the dance category of the Karachi Youth Festival.

Dance Mandala with Alizeh
Dance Mandala is a method of moving meditation that encourages authentic self-expression, cultivating bliss, and stillness. Through free-form movement, music, and gentle guided instruction, the participants are exposed to motion to confront the rigidity and tension of their own bodies.

Latri Jo Lafro
Latri Jo Lafro is a comedy based on a hilarious story of two Memon characters, Bachu Bhai and his nephew Zubair. They have lost all their wealth in the stock market crash and owe a lot of money to their creditors, from whom they must somehow escape.

Investigation Cell: A Play by Khulsoom Aftab
Three suspects are brought into an Investigation Cell: a rebellious, young female playwright hiding a fragile girl within her, a runaway man from Lyari who claims to be Barack Obama, and a conservative ‘Burqa-posh’ whose alter-ego is that of a man – her own father.
The Investigation Officer claims to know everything about the suspects. As the evening progresses, he psychoanalyses them into admitting their hidden fears and desires. What ensues is a violent drama of opposing ends: reality and illusion, battling it out in desperate pursuit of truth, in this stellar first-production by Kulsoom Aftab.
